On Wednesday, October 16, Bayside Secondary School hosted the district soccer tournament where six Grade 7-8 boys and six Grade 7-8 girls teams competed for the gold. These teams qualified for the district tournament after competing and winning in their respective athletic school group. The tournament has been running at Bayside Secondary School for the past several years and is supported by Graham Collins, Bayside’s Physical Education Head, who ensures the fields are ready for competition and provides referees from his Senior and Junior soccer teams. These students provide exceptional leadership on the field ensuring safe and competitive games.

Although it was a chilly day, many families cheered on the teams from the sidelines, and players found warmth in the heat of competition. In the boys’ final, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute went head to head with Bayside Secondary School, with the PECI Panthers, coached by Jaime Lawlor, taking the gold.
